The town of Kovalyovo is located close to the city of Kostroma.
The Kovalyovo Orphanage was founded in 1996 by Father Andre Voronin and his wife. In 1999 a family system was put into place in the orphanage. Within each of the seven family groups are a variety of ages living together in a section of the orphanage so the older children can help the younger. The children do shopping, cleaning, and cooking themselves under the supervision of caregivers. They also take care of the animals living on orphanage grounds. The children attend school in the nearby village of Nerekhta.
With the partnership of Garber UMC, the children at Kovalyovo Orphanage have the opportunity to grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally while the Garber UMC community also experiences positive transformation!
