Ken Sparks, CEO and President of Children’s HopeChest, shares his gratitude and highlights from the past year:
Dear Friends,
As we celebrate the close of Fiscal Year 2024, I want to take a moment to thank you for your steadfast support and partnership in advancing the mission of Children’s HopeChest. This year, together, we’ve made extraordinary strides in bringing the hope of Christ to vulnerable communities across the globe.
In 2024, we had the honor of celebrating 30 years of Children’s HopeChest, reflecting on the incredible impact we’ve made together. Over the past three decades, we’ve impacted the lives of over 100,000 people worldwide, reaching more than 50,000 children through 215 community-to-community partnerships. At each of our CarePoints, children receive life-changing care along with the message of Christ. Our leadership programs have graduated 730 leaders, and 595 Savings Groups have empowered 15,957 individuals, saving nearly $1 million ($953,823). These milestones represent the lasting transformation we’ve sparked across the globe.

2024 Key Statistics
Your support has made a significant impact throughout 2024:
- 4,291 letters were sent from sponsors to their HopeChest friends
- 71 CarePoints in Kenya, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Uganda, and Russia
- 1,199 staff & volunteers delivering impact at CarePoints every day
- 7,442 children in HopeChest’s Programming (sponsored, receiving direct impact)
Country Highlights
🇪🇹 ETHIOPIA:
CarePoints in Ethiopia brought life-changing opportunities to entire families in 2024! For example, at Shashemene Betale CarePoint, we introduced a honey production initiative designed to empower local families.
Seven guardians received beehive materials and training, enabling them to produce and sell honey. In just eight months, these families harvested approximately 45 pounds of honey, which they now sell at fair prices in the local market. This new source of income is helping cover essential expenses like food and transportation!

🇰🇪 KENYA:
This year, HopeChest Kenya celebrated another significant milestone at Mt. Elgone CarePoint with the harvest of 16,650 pounds (185 bags) of corn! This bountiful harvest is not only providing vital food for the community but also generating income to support HopeChest’s ongoing programs.

🇺🇬 UGANDA:
In 2024, HopeChest Uganda continued to empower children through health and education. One such story is Joseph, a 24-year-old nurse who graduated with support from Ngariam CarePoint. Overcoming serious health challenges, Joseph now gives back to his community and dreams of becoming a surgeon.

🇷🇺 RUSSIA:
HopeChest Russia continued its vital work empowering orphanage graduates in 2024. At Vladimir CarePoint, 12 first-year tech students participated in a transformative camp, gaining essential skills like financial literacy, city navigation, and public transportation.
🇬🇹 GUATEMALA:
This year, many children at HopeChest Guatemala CarePoints came to Christ, experiencing His transformative love and making life-changing decisions of faith. For example, at My Special Treasure CarePoint, Aaron became the first to publicly accept Jesus into his heart during a devotional.
His bold decision sparked a powerful ripple effect, inspiring many of his peers to follow in his footsteps. Aaron’s choice has deepened his own faith and encouraged others to take that vital step, highlighting the life-changing power of faith and the lasting impact of community support through HopeChest Guatemala.
