Welcome back to the Partner Stories Series, where we have been sharing conversations with our U.S. partners! We’ve heard from former and current HopeChest Partnership Leaders, pastors, and church leaders to talk about their inspiring experiences with HopeChest and the most moving stories from within their own communities.
In the final episode of this series, we are featuring our partners from Tri County Air Conditioning and Heating in Venice, FL. In this episode, Jim Foubister and Billy Swanson talk about their business’ partnership with Puerta de Esperanza CarePoint in Guatemala. You’ll enjoy listening to their stories and experience with building a relationship with a community in a different country while strengthening their organization.
Today, we are so excited to feature Billy Swanson, President of Tri County Air, and Jim Foubister, Comfort Care Director at Tri County Air. Founded in 1977 by Billy’s father, Try County Air is a family owned business on its second generation of ownership. To Billy, the company is so much more than air conditioning services; it’s a ministry. That’s why the organization has partnered with Puerta de Esperanza CarePoint for about six years! Puerta de Esperanza CarePoint is a ministry that cares for the children and families who live in the area surrounding Guatemala City’s largest city dump and market. After Billy and Jim’s first visit to the CarePoint, they knew they had to get involved. Now, their employees are able to experience transformation as well as they have opportunities to serve their local community AND their global community.
“Our employees are not just going to a job. They’re going to a place that has a greater purpose than just getting a paycheck. The purpose is investing and caring. We are so blessed with employees who truly care. They truly want to be involved with helping not just our local community, but our international community.”
In this podcast episode, Wil Crooks, our VP of Strategic Partnerships, sits down with Jim Foubister and Billy Swanson from Tri County Air Conditioning to have an inspiring conversation about what it truly means to help and to be a partner.
“Build Relationships. Break Poverty.” is a podcast that challenges the Western perception of international poverty by elevating the voices of local leaders and processing how we can help to alleviate poverty without harming those living in vulnerable communities.
