Realtors Jen and Dylan Debruin bring local business leaders together to fundraise for specific projects that support communities in Uganda at the Bukedea, Ogoloi, and Ongongoja CarePoints. The coalition is known as the Orphans of Teso. They co-own several real estate companies including CENTURY 21 Signature Real Estate with 9 offices throughout central Iowa; Real Property Management in the greater Des Moines and Ames regions; as well as Real Clear Settlement Company.
“Our team has always attracted employees and agents looking to be a part of something more than just a place to work. The ability for our team to be involved in our CarePoints has helped our team connect and engage in our culture. Whether simply by being a penpal to one of the sponsored kids, or by contributing through sponsorship, or even traveling to the CarePoints on our semi-annual trips, our staff have been able to feel a sense of ownership and pride in our team through their collective impact on our kids at the CarePoints.”
In this podcast episode, Wil Crooks, our VP of Strategic Partnerships, sits down with Jen DeBruin to talk about the most memorable stories about the relationship between these three Ugandan CarePoints and her real estate world, and how her family’s lives have been changed through their partnership.
“Build Relationships. Break Poverty.” is a podcast that challenges the Western perception of international poverty by elevating the voices of local leaders and processing how we can help to alleviate poverty without harming those living in vulnerable communities.
